Powering a Community That Gives Back
Red Beach Surf Lifesaving Club has served Auckland’s Hibiscus Coast for over 70 years, entirely volunteer-led.
Trilect Solar partnered with Entelar Energy to design and install a solar system that cuts the club’s power costs, covering 90% of the project cost ourselves so the club could get there without the financial burden.
The result frees up funds for lifesaving equipment and community programmes instead of power bills.

The system was engineered around 12 months of the club’s real electricity usage data, ensuring it was sized to match actual demand. Here’s a snapshot of the build.
- System size: 43.68kW DC
- Panels: 96 solar panels
- 29.9kW three-phase Entelar Smart String Inverter
- Install time: 4 days, with 5 installers on site at peak
The system generates around 56MWh of clean energy a year, cutting the club’s electricity costs by roughly 64%. That’s an estimated $9,338 in savings annually — money the club can now put back into lifesaving equipment, training and youth development instead of power bills.
The coastal-rated panels carry a 30-year warranty, built to handle Red Beach’s salt-air conditions, so the savings keep flowing well into the future.
Projects like this are exactly why we do what we do. Supporting the grassroots organisations that hold our communities together is at the heart of Trilect Solar, and Red Beach is a great example of what’s possible when that purpose meets solid engineering.
