Welcoming ASEAN Renewable Energy Experts to Ardmore Solar Farm!

We were honoured to host a group of 29 renewable energy professionals from Southeast Asia at our Ardmore Solar Farm earlier this month.

Organised by the University of Auckland’s Geothermal Institute as part of their month-long Renewable Energy Project Management course, the visit was supported by New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Delegates from Indonesia, Timor Leste, Laos, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar joined us—many noting the field trip as a highlight of their time in Aotearoa.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share the story behind Ardmore Solar, explore New Zealand’s evolving solar landscape, and exchange insights with fellow professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region.

A big thank you to Dr Michael Gravatt, Dr Bart van Campen, and the University of Auckland Geothermal Institute team for making this visit possible. We look forward to more collaborations like this in the future.

Solar Farm Frequently Asked Questions

What sets Trilect apart in the solar farm industry?

Trilect offers full in-house capability—from engineering and consenting through to construction and maintenance. Our experience, combined with local knowledge and proven delivery, makes us a trusted name in commercial-scale solar across New Zealand.

How long does it take to build a solar farm?

Timeframes vary depending on site conditions, size, and grid connection. Contact us for more information.

What kind of land is suitable for a solar farm?

Flat or gently sloping land with good sun exposure and proximity to grid infrastructure (like 11kV lines or substations) is ideal. Trilect can assist with site feasibility assessments.

Who handles the ongoing maintenance of a solar farm?

Trilect offers long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services, including system monitoring, cleaning, and technical support to ensure optimal performance over the farm’s lifespan.

What is the typical lifespan of a solar farm?

Modern solar farms are built to last 25–30 years or more. With regular maintenance, the equipment continues to perform efficiently for decades.

What happens to the land after a solar farm’s life ends?

Solar farms are low-impact developments. At the end of their life, they can be decommissioned and the land can usually return to its original use (e.g., agriculture or grazing).

How does Trilect ensure quality and compliance?

We use Tier 1 components, follow strict industry standards, and work closely with councils, power companies, and regulators to ensure all compliance requirements are met.
